Welcome to Platform 1, a historic venue at Newtown's Railway Station!

We are a Creative Cafe and Community Hub, set up by volunteers and supporting volunteers, our team is made up of creative individuals, bakers, ex teachers, people new to the area and we also support individuals with learning difficulties. We also provide work experience for students from local schools and colleges.

We have created a relaxed, calming space for the community to rest, relax and reset. With weekly social groups, art activities, craft workshops and woodwork sessions our aim is to help prevent social isolation, provide an inclusive and welcoming venue and build a strong sense of community.

We are home to Men Shed Newtown, an Art Shed available for artists and for parties, the creative shop supporting local artists and crafters as well as supporting the Men Shed. We also have the ever growing Newtown stories museum.
